Junior Official Requirements

Online Course Update

Current Status as of 12/12/2023

  • Officiating courses are available as soon as you complete your FULL USAV Palmetto Region membership registration. 
  • Coaches can begin taking the training now and players can after they upgrade from their tryout membership to their full membership.
  • Officiating certifications last for two seasons. 
  • To confirm if you have current officiating certifications you can check under "Credentials" and then scan through "Training & Education".

2024 Junior Team Requirements

All Palmetto Region junior teams are required to have the following certified members on their roster:

  • At least 1 certified adult (Coaches ONLY take the "PM24 Coaches Officiating Clinic" - will show as certified R2 on roster)
  • At least 2 Second Referees (R2s)
  • At least 2 Scorers

Teams must meet minimum requirements by 1/1/24

Coach Certifications

Coaches can enroll in their curriculum, and all modules are now available. 

How to Access the Online Training

  • Log in to My SportsEngine with your USA Volleyball Membership linked account. 
  • Click Household, and choose the desired profile. 
  • To the right, you'll see the USAV Memberships. Under them, click View Details.
  • In the top right-hand corner click the USAV Academy button to access the USA Volleyball Learning Center.

  • Once you are in Academy click on "Content Library".
  • Then click on the course that applies to you. (All players should take the Line Judge and Libero tracker courses. Minimum two players per team should take the Second Referee and Scorer courses.  Adults should take the Coaches course, which covers all officiating positions.)
  • Junior Line Judge - PM24_013 USAV Junior Line Judge
  • Junior Libero Tracker - PM24_015 USAV Junior Asst. Scorer / Libero Tracker Training
  • Junior Second Referee - PM24_012 Junior R2
  • Junior Scorer - PM24_014 Junior Scorer Training
  • Coaches - PM24_150 Coaches Officiating Training

 

Notes

  • At least one of the work team members AT THE TABLE (or working as R2) must be a USAV registered & rostered adult. This person is not required to be a coach, but must have completed the required training for scoring. It is also permissible for the adult to work as the R2, instead of sitting at the table, if they have completed the Second Referee or Coaches training clinics. 
  • Each person who will function during the season as a 2nd  referee or scorer must take the online clinic/exam NO LATER THAN February 1st 
  • It is recommended that the entire team complete the Libero Tracking & Line Judge training.

Junior Requirements Summary

  • Register through USAV for Juniors Officials Clinics
  • Take relevant Official Clinic & Exam in Learning Management System by February 1st.
